Behind the Felt
Meet The Artist
Deb Koesters began her journey when attending a wet felting 3-dimensional class on the East Coast, at a place called Snow Farm. The technique uses wool, warm, soapy water, and friction or rubbing to make the fiber fuse together, forming a fabric called felt.
It came quite natural to her as she has worked with hair during her career as a cosmetologist, hence, she has been a fiber artist for her entire life.
The great thing about felting is that it is very forgiving; such a soft medium with so many uses. Deb loves color, sculpting and the whole process of felting. Having studied the technique under many talented felting professionals, she has developed her own acquired style over the years resulting in her founding of Feltersforte. Deb now focuses on designing wearable art along with upholstery and wall art.
Deb is a member of The Surface Design Association, Omaha Artist Inc., Fiber Art Now, Omaha Artists Inc. She resides in Council Bluffs, Iowa with her husband, Dick, who is a welding artist. She has two grown children and three grandsons and one granddaughter.
